Crime Report: 9/21/21

On Sept. 13 at 5:30 am, officers responded to a shooting that had just occurred at 12340 Lakewood Blvd (Studio Inn and Suites). The preliminary investigation by patrol officers confirmed a shooting had occurred and both the victim and suspect fled prior to officer’s arrival. Based on surveillance video and evidence located on scene, it appears the victim was unharmed. The detective bureau is conducting the follow up investigation.

On Sept. 16 at 12:30 am, patrol officers were dispatched to the 7000 block of Dinwiddie in regards to an armed robbery. The adult victim and adult suspect are acquaintances and during an argument the suspect brandished a firearm and threatened the victim. The suspect was arrested the following day and the firearm was recovered.

On Sept. 17 at 10:25 pm, officers responded to the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed at Imperial Hwy. in regards to a shooting. The victim and suspect are known to each other and both live along the Rio San Gabriel Riverbed. During an argument, the suspect brandished a semi-automatic handgun and fired one round at the victim, striking him. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The detective bureau is currently investigating all leads. 

On Sept. 18 at 12:30 am, officers responded to 9501 Imperial Hwy (Jack in the Box) in regards to an armed robbery. Both adult suspects entered the business and demanded money. One suspect brandished a firearm and struck one of the adult victims with the weapon. The victim cooperated and gave the suspects money from the register. The victim sustained minor injuries and the suspects fled the scene. 

On Sept. 19 at 11:20 am, officers were dispatched to 9001 Apollo Way (WalMart), in regards to an armed robbery.  Loss prevention employees attempted to detain a shoplifting suspect, who brandished what the employee believed to be a handgun. In fear, the employee did pursue the suspect who left the location. Officers located the suspect vehicle and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, the suspect threw a handgun out of the window of the vehicle. The pursuit was taken over by officers from the California Highway Patrol and the suspect eventually gave up. The driver was arrested and a pellet gun was recovered.
