Crime Report: 9/8/20

Aug. 31

Detectives are investigating a residential burglary that occurred in the 11900 block of Old River School Road between 7am and noon. The suspect(s) entered through an unlocked sliding door and stole approximately $15,000 in electronics and other items.

Sept. 2

Between 5 pm and 7 am,  unknown suspects removed three catalytic converters from buses at the Downey Dial-a-Ride lot at 8150 Nance. The loss is estimated at $5400.

At approximately 12:50 pm, the Downey Gang Unit stopped a vehicle at Paramount Blvd. and Imperial Hwy. that was identified as "armed and dangerous" out of the City of South Gate. The female adult driver was detained without incident. South Gate PD responded and took custody of the female and the vehicle.

At approximately 6 pm, Downey officers responded to the 7300 block of Stewart & Gray Rd. regarding a subject vandalizing a residence. The adult male suspect from South Gate had broken the front door to his mother's residence. The suspect ran from officers and was detained a short distance away. He was booked on a vandalism charge.

Sept. 3

At approximately 2 pm, Downey officers responded to the 11000 block of Rio Hondo regarding a suspicious subject and arrested a 35-year-old Bell Gardens resident for possession of narcotics paraphernalia (methamphetamine pipe).

Sept. 5

At 9:30 am, officers responded to a residence in the 8400 block of Priscilla regarding a domestic violence incident. A 46-year-old male from South Gate was arrested at the scene.

At approximately 7:40 pm, a suspect in a stolen vehicle out of Huntington Park was apprehended in the area of Florence and Tweedy, after a pursuit by officers from the CHP ended with a "PIT" maneuver. There were no injuries or property damage and the incident was handled by CHP and Huntington Park.

Sept. 6 

At 2:45 pm, Downey officers arrested a 30-year-old South Gate man for driving a stolen vehicle in the area of Lakewood and Firestone.
