Detective gets award from MedicAlert

NORWALK - Mark Christiansen, a detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Norwalk Station, was honored by the MedicAlert Foundation last week for finding and assisting an autistic man who wandered away from home.The victim, who was not identified, wandered onto the Norwalk High School campus and was unable to provide basic information, including his name. Christiansen noticed the man was equipped with a MedicAlert identification tag. Using this information, Christiansen was able to instantly access the man's medical history and have him transported home.
