DOWNEY – The owner of an Orange Estates home whose request to subdivide the property was rejected by the Planning Commission has appealed the decision to the City Council.

Simi Valley-based 3-E Enterprises bought the property at 7741 3rd Street for $654,000 in April 2016. The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom property sits on a 19,090-sq. ft. lot.

Earlier this year, the new owner sought to subdivide the property into two lots, demolishing the house and replacing it with two single-family homes on separate lots each measuring 8,972 square feet.

The Planning Commission, however, rejected those plans on Sept. 20, determining it “could not make all of the findings necessary to approve the project.”

The City Council will consider the appeal Tuesday night.
