Doctor arrested on molestation charges

DOWNEY - A local doctor is in custody today, facing a felony charge after being accused last week of molesting a 16-year-old patient, Downey police said.Dr. Joseph Egnoto, 69, was arrested last Wednesday after the teenage girl reported to Downey police on January 15 that she had been molested by her psychotherapist in the city of Downey. Detectives initiated an investigation which resulted in the arrest of Egnoto, a licensed psychotherapist who specializes in family counseling. Egnoto operates a private practice in both Downey and from his home in Harbor City. Egnoto was charged with a felony for child molestation and is being held at the Los Angeles County Jail on $1 million bail.
