DOWNEY — Dollar Tree is set to expand its presence in Downey by taking over the former Party City location at Downey Landing. This move follows Party City's recent closure amid a nationwide shutdown of its stores.
The Downey Landing store, located at 12076 Lakewood Blvd, was among the locations affected by Party City's decision to wind down operations after exiting bankruptcy in September 2023.
With this acquisition, Dollar Tree will establish its fourth store within Downey city limits. The other three locations are at 8330 Firestone Blvd, 10227 Lakewood Blvd, and 11916 Paramount Blvd.
Notably, the Paramount Blvd store was previously a 99 Cents Only Store before Dollar Tree acquired it last year.
This expansion is part of Dollar Tree's broader strategy to grow its footprint by acquiring leases from retailers undergoing restructuring. Earlier this year, Dollar Tree moved to acquire 148 Party City stores nationwide following Party City's bankruptcy filing in late December 2024.
