DOWNEY – The Downey Arts Coalition is inviting local artists and students to submit artwork for the upcoming Ofrendas Art Exhibit and Student Art Exhibit, both part of the 12th Annual Downey Día De Los Muertos Art Festival on Sunday, Nov. 2, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Downey Civic Center and Theatre.

Artists of all ages and experience levels are encouraged to participate. Artwork should reflect the theme of Día de los Muertos or Mexican/Latino culture. All media and sizes are welcome, and pieces must be self-contained. A $5 donation per entry is requested for general submissions.

Artwork submissions can be sent to Andrew Hernandez at andrewh@downeyarts.org, while student art submissions should be sent to Liz Moran at Liz.dac2025@gmail.com. The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Schools are encouraged to participate in the student exhibit, which includes a special incentive: schools that submit 30 or more entries will receive 10 raffle tickets for a chance to win a large basket of art supplies, plus one extra ticket for each additional submission. The winning school will be announced during the festival at 5 p.m. on Nov. 2.

The Ofrendas exhibits are presented by the Downey Arts Coalition, in partnership with the Downey Theatre and the Downey Día de los Muertos Committee, as part of one of the city’s most colorful and popular annual cultural celebrations.
