Downey coronavirus cases reach 679

DOWNEY — The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Downey reached 679 on Friday.

Health officials announced 1,824 new cases across L.A. County. Authorities attributed the spike to a recent backlog of test results.

Fifty new deaths were also reported Friday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 related fatalities in L.A. County to 2,290.
