Downey Crime Report: 9/26/18

Friday, September 21

At 5 pm, one of our K9 units responded to assist sheriff’s deputies on a narcotics search of a vehicle. Two (2) kilos of cocaine were located.

Members of DPD conducted a DUI/License checkpoint as part of our ongoing commitment to traffic safety. The checkpoint was conducted from 9 pm until 2:30 am on Firestone at Ryerson.

Officers patrolled the downtown area from 10 pm until 3 am. During that time they issued 6 citations for traffic violations.

Saturday, September 22

At 4:35 pm, a female attempted to leave the 99 Cent Store (11916 Paramount) without paying for several items of merchandise. When confronted by store employees the suspect struggled to get away before dropping the merchandise and fleeing in her vehicle. Ultimately, officers located and stopped the suspect, who was arrested for the theft.

Officers worked the downtown area from 10 pm until 3 am. During that time they issued 9 municipal code citations and 2 traffic citations.

Sunday, September 23

At 10 pm, officers responded to a robbery at Domino’s Pizza (7433 Florence). Two subjects entered the location wearing hoodies and gloves. One suspect was holding a crowbar. They demanded currency from the register, as well as personal items from the employees. The suspects then fled with the loss. Detectives are investigating.
