Downey Federal Credit Union launches free community education workshops

DOWNEY – Downey Federal Credit Union is hosting free Community Education Workshops in partnership with Collegiate Coaching LLC, a college admissions and career pathway coaching company.

Workshops will begin Wednesday, Oct. 19, and continue through Wednesday, Jan. 18, and will be held at the Barbara J. Riley Community & Senior Center at Apollo Park.

This series of workshops will cover a variety of topics such as College 101; Financial Aid; the California State University application process; adults and veterans going back to college; and more.

As college, career, and financial aid information is generally only touched on in a school setting, these workshops seek to cater to a larger audience beyond the school environment, and offer this information to the community at large. They are intended to reach residents of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

"DFCU believes that this information should be available to all people, whether you are a high school senior going into college, or an adult planning to go back to school to earn your Masters," officials with Downey Federal Credit Union said. "This series of classes is just one of many endeavors DFCU offers Downey in educating the community they serve."
