Downey High student is Young Marine of the Year

DOWNEY - Beth Abzun, a freshman at Downey High School, beat out 50,000 other students to be named Division 6 Young Marine of the Year.The Young Marines is the official Youth Drug Demand Reduction Program of the United States Marine Corps. Abzun will travel to Japan in March for final competition for overall Young Marine of the Year. Abzun is in three honors classes at Downey. She is also a black belt in karate.
