Downey Kiwanis raising money to help separated children

DOWNEY – Guided by the Kiwanis International call to “Serve the Children of the World,” the Downey Kiwanis Club has decided to hold a fundraiser to aid in the re-unification of the more than 2,500 children that were separated from their asylum-seeking parents at the U.S./ Mexican border.

“Next to food and water, these children are in desperate need of legal representation,” said Rose Schneeberger, a Kiwanis member who organized the fundraiser.

All funds raised will be sent to National Justice for Our Neighbors, a not for profit agency who provides legal representation for these children.

Tax-deductible donations can be made payable to Downey Kiwanis Foundation and mailed to P.O. Box 793, Downey, CA 90241 or can be made online by visiting www.njfon.org.
