Downey previews ‘Farmers Market’ float for 2027 Rose Parade
DOWNEY – A farmers market filled with produce, flowers and towering citrus branches will represent Downey in the 2027 Rose Parade, according to a design rendering released Thursday by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses.
Titled “Farmers Market,” the Downey Rose Float Association’s entry features a market stand with a red-and-white striped awning, baskets and crates of produce, and a green tractor pulling a wagon loaded with fruits and vegetables.
Oversized citrus branches rise above the scene, while flowers surround the market and tractor. The float will be built by the Downey Rose Float Association.
Downey’s rendering was among five designs unveiled in the Tournament of Roses’ latest preview of entries for the 138th Rose Parade. The other participating organizations were Cal Poly Universities, the city of South Pasadena, Princess Cruises and Rotary.
The floats draw inspiration from the 2027 parade theme, “Welcome.” The renderings offer an early look at designs that will be covered with flowers and other natural materials before traveling along Colorado Boulevard on New Year’s Day.
“From the first sketches to the final petals, countless hours of creativity, craftsmanship and volunteer dedication go into transforming these designs into the spectacular floats audiences will see on New Year’s Day,” the Tournament of Roses said in its announcement.
The Rose Parade is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Friday, Jan. 1, in Pasadena.
