Egg hunt brings creativity and encouragement to Rancho Los Amigos patients
DOWNEY — Patients at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center took part in a spring-themed egg hunt designed to promote engagement, creativity and rehabilitation during a festive event held April 3 at the Rancho Resource Center.
With the support of physical therapists, patients explored the center in search of colorful eggs placed throughout the facility. Each egg contained an activity rather than traditional candy, encouraging participants to think, move and interact.
Prompts inside the eggs included challenges such as identifying flowers around the center or singing a favorite childhood song. Many also featured positive affirmations aimed at boosting motivation and morale during recovery.
At the conclusion of the event, patients without dietary restrictions were given candy, while those with restrictions received non-edible items such as hand warmers and reusable bottles. Golden eggs offered additional prizes, adding an element of excitement to the activity.
All participants also received Easter-themed activity packets that included puzzle sheets such as Sudoku and crosswords, intended to keep patients mentally engaged beyond the event.
Hospital staff said the egg hunt provided a meaningful opportunity for patients to participate in a lighthearted activity while supporting their physical and cognitive rehabilitation. The event was organized by the Rancho Resource Center.
