Father-Con to host free reading event at Downey City Library
Father-Con, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering fathers and strengthening families, is inviting the community to a special reading event on Saturday, June 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Downey City Library.
The free event will feature live readings by three featured authors — Sunny Seki, William Denson, and Lisa Pacheco — who will share selections from their published works with attendees of all ages.
In addition to author appearances, the event will provide opportunities for fathers to read aloud to their children in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Families in attendance will also receive free books and enjoy complimentary pizza while supplies last. Admission is free and open to the public.
The event aligns with Father-Con’s mission to engage, equip, and encourage fathers and father figures through education, mentorship, and community events. Founded on the belief that fathers play a vital role in child development and academic success, Father-Con promotes literacy and quality family time through initiatives like this weekend’s reading celebration.
“Reading with your child builds more than literacy—it builds connection,” said organizers. “This is a great opportunity for dads and kids to enjoy time together, meet inspiring authors, and take home free books.”
