Firefighters knock down garage fire

DOWNEY - Firefighters prevented a garage fire from spreading to an attached home in Downey Tuesday night.Firefighters with Engine 63 responded to a residential garage fire at 8618 7th St. at about 10:18 Tuesday night, where they spotted smoke coming from the roof area. Firefighters confirmed the blaze, which was threatening to spread into the home's attic space. The home's occupants were evacuated and firefighters managed to contain the fire to the garage area. Two people were displaced from the home but no injuries were reported. The fire is currently under investigation. Firefighters remained on the scene throughout the night.
