Firefighters to train at medical offices

DOWNEY - Downey firefighters will hold a series of training exercises at the shuttered Gallatin Medical Center next week, Oct. 4-10.Firefighters and other first responders will use the property to practice firefighting and rescue techniques. The drills will take place during daylight hours but will generally not be visible from the street. The training will not affect nearby property, city officials said. Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital, which owns the property, plans to clear the site and build new medical offices.
