Harry Zembal was WWII veteran

DOWNEY - Harry Lewis Zembal died May 21 at Downey Regional Medical Center from a bowel obstruction complicated by pneumonia. He was 89.He was born and raised in Chicago until he became a navigator on B29s during World War II; he survived bailing out over the jungles of Burma and evaded capture by the Japanese. After the war, he and his wife Barbara Jean lived in Chicago a short time before making Downey their permanent home. He is survived by seven children, Mary, Dick, Tom, Joan, Carol, Andy and Greg, and their spouses; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held May 29 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Downey. Burial took place Tuesday at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
