DOWNEY — Downey City Councilman Hector Sosa announced that he has received the endorsement of the Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association.

The nonprofit organization advocates against unnecessary taxes and fees while promoting ethical leadership, government accountability and the responsible use of public funds.

“I am grateful to receive the endorsement of the Los Angeles County Taxpayers Association,” Sosa said. “Residents work hard for their money, and they deserve a city government that treats every tax dollar with care. That means setting clear priorities, avoiding waste and making decisions that deliver meaningful results for the community.”

Sosa has emphasized fiscal responsibility throughout his service on the City Council, supporting investments in public safety, infrastructure and essential city services while advocating for greater efficiency at City Hall.

“Fiscal responsibility is not simply about spending less,” Sosa said. “It is about spending wisely, planning for the future and ensuring taxpayers receive the services and accountability they expect from their local government.”

Sosa earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance and a minor in economics from Cal State Los Angeles. As a financial services professional, he works with individuals, families and business owners to help them plan for their financial futures.

“Downey taxpayers deserve leadership that respects their contributions and remains focused on the city’s long-term financial health,” Sosa said. “I will continue working to keep City Hall accountable, responsive and focused on providing residents with the greatest possible value for their tax dollars.”
