Help firefighters 'fill the boot'

DOWNEY - Downey firefighters will be collecting money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association tomorrow as part of the annual "Fill the Boot" fundraiser.Firefighters will be at the intersection of Lakewood and Firestone boulevards from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. collecting donations from motorists. The MDA works to provide treatment and find cures for more than 40 neuromuscular diseases. Locally, the MDA funds specialized clinics at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, providing support groups and assisting with the purchase of wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices.
