Home value assessment results now available online

LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles County property owners can go online to find out if their home or condominium was assessed a decline in value, which could lead to lower property taxes, Los Angeles County Assessor Rick Auerbach announced this week.Approximately half a million properties saw their property values decline, Auerbach said. That could mean a reduction in property taxes without needing to file any forms. To see if your home's property value was reduced, log on to www.assessor.lacounty.gov and enter an address or Assessor Identification Number (AIN). The assessor's office reviewed property purchased primarily between July 1, 2003 and June 30, 2008. In some "particularly hard hit areas of the county," the review will include properties purchased as far back as 2000.
