NORWALK – The (8-2) La Mirada Matadores will host the (8-2)  Paso Robles Bearcats in a CIF Southern Section High School Football Playoff game tonight at 7 p.m.
The Matadores are seeded #1 and projected to win their division. The team is coming into the game ranked 13th in the state and 104th in the nation.

Led by standout quarterback Tristan Meyer, who is leading the Suburban League in practically every statistical category for QBs.

Meyer has many weapons on offense including two of the biggest and baddest wideouts in the league in seniors Chad Wilson and Jeremy Clark.

The Matadores are coming off a 63-13 win against rival Mayfair to wrap up the regular  season. The Lancers football team will host El Rancho High School tonight at 7 p.m. in a first round playoff game. The 2016 CIF Southern Section playoff game is set to take place at Excelsior Adult School.

■ Norwalk defeated the Dons to kickoff the season, 23-12 and are coming into the rematch with the most confidence that they have had all year.

The Lancers finished off their regular season strong by winning the last three straight conference games and are looking to continue to their superior running game.

Jordan Thomas had another stellar performance on both sides of the ball. On offense Thomas has rushed the ball 44 times for 337 yards and six touchdowns over the 3 game winning streak.

On defense, Thomas has been just as effective rushing the quarterback. He has a team leading 17 sacks on the season which includes the seven sacks he recorded over the last three games.
