La Mirada Theatre announces cast for regional premiere of “Mean Girls” musical

LA MIRADA — The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment have announced the full cast for the Southern California regional theater premiere of the musical Mean Girls, which will run April 10 through May 3.

Based on the hit 2004 film written by Tina Fey, the stage adaptation features a book by Fey, music by Jeff Richmond and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. The production will be directed and choreographed by Dana Solimando, with musical direction by Anthony Zediker.

The musical follows Cady Heron, a teenager who grew up in Africa but suddenly finds herself navigating the social hierarchy of an American high school. Her attempt to challenge “The Plastics,” a powerful trio led by Regina George, leads to unexpected consequences as she learns the risks of high school popularity and rivalry.

The production will star Katie Roche as Cady Heron and Adrianna Rose Lyons as Regina George, joined by Sarah-Anne Martinez as Gretchen Wieners and Grace Fluharty as Karen Smith. McKenna Michael will play Janis Sarkisian, Gavin Leahy will portray Damian Hubbard, Eric Myrick will appear as Aaron Samuels and Shailen Patel Braun will play Kevin Gnapoor.

Additional principal cast members include Daryl C. Brown as Mr. Hubbard, Daniel Dawson as Coach Carr and Gwen Hollander as Mrs. Heron, Ms. Norbury and Mrs. George.

The ensemble cast features Sabrina Astengo, Alyssa Anne Austin, Eugene Boyd, Augusto Guardado, Brandon Halvorsen, Emmy J. Lane, Jenna Luck, Keturah McIntyre, Caroline Moulios, Barbara Ann Reed, Eric Renna and Clayton Michael Walker. Kevin Corte and Bailey Renee Miller will serve as swings.

Preview performances begin Friday, April 10 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 11 at 2 p.m., with the official opening scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at 8 p.m. The show will run through Sunday, May 3 at the theater, located at 14900 La Mirada Blvd.

Regular performances are scheduled Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Special events include talkbacks with the cast and creative team on April 16 and April 30, and an open-captioned performance on April 25 at 2 p.m.

Tickets range from $23 to $115 and are available online at the theater’s website or through the box office. Discounts are available for groups, students and members of the military.

Mean Girls is recommended for audiences ages 12 and older due to language and subject matter.
