Letter to the Editor: Misinformation

Dear Editor:

This is in response to the letter written by Elsa Van Leuvan where she states the she "always wondered why public employees are not on Social Security as the private sector is".

Be advised that with the with the introduction of the Federal Employees Retirement System on Jan. 1, 1987, newly-hired federal employees have been paying into Social Security. Come this January that will be 30 years of federal employees paying into Social Security.
