Letters to the Editor - Heroic act

Dear Editor:On Jan. 12, an evening Downey Adult School student was found collapsed in a restroom. Maria Kulikoff, an intermediate clerical assistant in the front office, was immediately contacted by security. Maria instinctively reacted by rushing to the fallen student and administering CPR. Maria did not stop CPR until paramedics arrived. Maria did her very best, and truly went above and beyond of what can be expected in such a situation, however, despite the persistent and heroic efforts of Maria and paramedics, the student unfortunately was not revived. Downey Unified School District and Downey Adult School commend Maria for her tenacity, her unselfishness, and her professionalism in this situation.
