Lions Club chartered in Downey

DOWNEY - The new Downey Lions Club hosted its charter night April 15 at the Rio Hondo Event Center.Larry Dicus, district governor for Lions Club 4L2, served as installing officer. The keynote speaker was Bob Smith, international director elect from Sacramento. New club officers include Cindy Galindo, president; Elliott Bradley, first vice president; Connie Coll, second vice president; Leonard Zuniga, secretary; Pam Powers, treasurer; Nancy Barrera, tail twister; Jeannie Wood, lion tamer; and Sandy Esslinger and Bill Wood, directors. The event was themed "A Night at the Oscars" and members and guests walked down a red carpet as they entered the gala. Entertainment was provided by the Downey High School Jazz Club and magician Brian Regalbuto, with Ernie Hernandez providing dinner music. The Downey Lions Club will meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m. at Café N Stuff.
