DOWNEY — While no formal campaign announcement has been made, Lissette Rivera has confirmed her candidacy for Downey City Council in District 4 during the 2026 election.
Rivera is also a small business owner and serves as the city’s Public Works Commissioner for District 5. She is a member of several community organizations in Downey, including the Assistance League of Downey, the Downey Chamber of Commerce, the Downey Association of Realtors, and the Rotary Club.
She is a public notary and loan signing agent, and owns Signature Solutions 24/7 Mobile Notary Service, LLC.
As the wife of a Navy veteran and a mother of four, Rivera is passionate about promoting mental health awareness, providing early intervention for children with special needs, and ensuring social support for all children in the community.
She is a founding member of the War on Lethal Fentanyl (WOLF) and was honored by State Sen. Bob Archuleta as a 2024 Woman of Achievement representing the 30th Senate District.
Rivera helped to create WOLF in 2022 in response to the growing number of fatal fentanyl overdoses.
“She’s a true inspiration and a beacon of hope for her community,” said then-mayor Mario Trujillo. “Lissette’s tireless work and dedication have helped to raise awareness and make a positive impact in the City of Downey and surrounding areas.”
Rivera would be taking the seat of Council member Claudia M. Frometa, as her term is set to expire in December 2026.
There are no other known candidates who are running for the seat.
