Marketplace grill to serve alcohol on patio

DOWNEY - The new Marketplace grill still under construction at 7877 Florence Ave. was approved for an extended use of its liquor license this week.The restaurant was granted permission from the Planning Commission to serve alcohol in its 900-sq. ft. patio area. Its license previously allowed alcohol to be served only inside the restaurant. The patio will be surrounded with walls 42 inches high, plans show. The restaurant is anticipated to open in about six weeks, owner George Efstathiou said Wednesday.
