Northwest Downey Diamondbacks complete historic undefeated season

DOWNEY – The Northwest Downey Little League Minor B Diamondbacks accomplished something historic this season, finishing league play with a perfect 17-0 record and winning the division championship while remaining undefeated.

Following their league championship, the Diamondbacks advanced to the District 29 Tournament of Champions, where they faced top teams from neighboring cities and leagues, including Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, La Mirada and others. The Tournament of Champions brings together league champions to compete for the district title.

Earlier this month, the Diamondbacks faced La Mirada in the Tournament of Champions championship game.

In a thrilling contest, Northwest Downey secured a 5-4 victory to claim the title and complete an extraordinary season.

With the win, the NWDLL Minor B Diamondbacks became the first team in Northwest Downey Little League history to go undefeated during league play, win their division championship and then win the Tournament of Champions while remaining undefeated throughout the entire season.

The players, coaches and families worked hard throughout the season, and their dedication culminated in one of the most memorable accomplishments NWDLL has ever seen. As league officials and board members recognized following the championship victory, this team set a new standard and made league history.
