Open letter to readers

Dear Editor:It is amazing what you can stuff in a Kia Spectra. They really are roomy. I am headed to Arizona where I will be writing for another newspaper. As I leave Downey with my car full of my belongings, my heart is full of cherished memories. It will be impossible to forget the Chamber mixers, Sue Norton, and all of the ambassadors who always made me feel welcome. I will miss dropping off papers at the Downey Adult School every Friday, and I don't think I will find another hair stylist as wonderful as Sherry from Johnny and Co. Even though I now belong to a new newspaper family, I will miss drinking Eric's coffee in the morning and my lunch buddy Dorothy. I don't think anyone will ever shoot rubber bands at me like Linda, and no one makes cupcakes better than Jennifer. It has been a pleasure meeting so many different Downey business owners and representatives, city employees, and residents. It has been a privilege helping you with your advertising needs and sharing your stories with the community. My best wishes to The Downey Patriot staff and to all of you. Thank you for helping make Downey my home for awhile. -Mary Forney, Downey ********** Published: March 6, 2009 - Volume 7 - Issue 46
