Police collecting unwanted prescription drugs April 30

DOWNEY -- The Downey Police Department will be accepting expired, unused or unwanted medication at a take-back event Saturday, April 30.

"This event offers community members an opportunity to rid their homes of potentially dangerous drugs and minimize the potential for misuse and abuse," police officials said.

Residents can drop off their prescription medication from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the police department's west parking lot.

All medication will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency for proper disposal.

Needles, sharps and glass containers will not be accepted. Liquids must be in fully sealed, unopened plastic containers.
