Proud of his hometown

Dear Editor:I came back to Downey for the Memorial Day weekend. I had the opportunity to visit Downey High School. There were many positive changes. The facilities were new and nice. The students were polite, courteous and looked happy to be at their school. I went to the Hall of Fame ceremonies on Friday. The program ran smoothly, thanks to Tom Houts, John Baker and Gordon Weisenburger. The Jazz Choir was special, and their rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" was amazing. We also saw John Vincent at the Downey Historical Society and bought a copy of "Images of America - Downey." It makes me proud to say that Downey is my hometown. - Lash Stevenson, Downey High School class of 1957
