Thelma Fisher, a Downey resident for 63 years, passed away peacefully June 13, 2015, surrounded by her family. Thelma had a wonderful, long life, and she lived it to the fullest. She was 93 year old.
Thelma was born in Long Beach, California, where she attended Long Beach Poly High School. She was the fourth of six children, and her family meant everything to her. She married the love of her life, Dean Fisher, in 1952, and they made their home in Downey.
Thelma had a beautiful, contagious smile, and a servant’s heart. One of her greatest joys in life was helping others, and she spent most of her life doing just that. She loved people, and everyone who knew her loved her!
Thelma is survived by her son, Gary Fisher; daughter, Tammy Fisher (Tim) Smick; grandchildren, Jeremy (Shannon) Fisher, Joshua (Bee) Fisher, Justin Fisher, Chris (Natassia) Smick, Serra Smick, and Rachel Smick; great-grandchildren, Ashton, Olivia, Lenox, Cruz, and Alexander. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and countless friends. Thelma was met at Heaven’s gate by her husband, Dean Fisher, and her grandson, Alex Smick, who both preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Risher Mortuary Chapel, 1316 Whittier Blvd, Montebello, CA 90640. A reception will immediately follow. Thelma will be laid to rest next to her grandson, Alex, at a private burial.
