Raymundo Escarciga mourned

DOWNEY – Raymundo “Ray” Escarciga passed away Jan. 27 surrounded by his family. He was 80. Born in El Paso, Tex. on Oct. 11, 1934 to the late Andres and Trinidad Escarciga, he was one of 11 children.

After serving in the U.S. Air Force, he married Mary Lou Salas, also from El Paso, and they relocated to Southern California. They moved to Downey in 1969, where they raised their two children, Rebecca Escarciga (Kuhn) and Jaime Raymundo Escarciga.

He retired from Farmer John/Clougherty Packing Co. in Vernon.

Ray is survived by his wife and children, along with five grandchildren, Eric Escarciga, Wendel Kuhn IV, Madeline “Maya” Kuhn, Catilin Escarciga and Carissa Escarciga; daughter-in-law, Angie Pena Escarciga; son-in-law, Wendel Kuhn III; and addition to siblings Enriqueta, Francisca, Andrea, Juana, Lina, Luis of El Paso, and Leopoldo of Diamond Bar.

Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, at 11 a.m. at Miller Mies Mortuary in Downey.
