Sister Cities installing board

DOWNEY - The Downey Sister Cities Association will install its executive board for 2009-10 on July 8 at Maude Price Elementary School.The installation will take place inside the school cafeteria at 7:30 p.m. Mayor Mario Guerra will serve as installing officer. The Downey Sister Cities Association was established in 1960 after President Dwight D. Eisenhower requested, "A voluntary effort of private citizens to advance the cause of international friendship." Downey currently enjoys sister city status with Guadalajara-Jalisco, Alajuela, Costa Rica and Ensenada, Baja California. The community is invited to the installation.
