Sophia Loren, Clint Black highlight Cerritos Center's 2016-17 season

CERRITOS – The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (CCPA) kicks off the 2016-17 Season with entertainment icon Sophia Loren.

In “An Evening With Sophia Loren,” the timeless Oscar winner discusses her prolific career and answers questions from the audience. The show takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16.

Sophia Loren will discuss her career and answer audience questions at the Cerritos Center on Sept. 16.

The 2016-17 Season lineup boasts many more world-class performers, including pop queen Roberta Flack, Grammy winners Clint Black and Olivia Newton-John, celebrated saxophonist Dave Koz, Grammy-Oscar-Emmy-Tony nominee Vanessa Williams, Broadway stars Bernadette Peters and Kristin Chenoweth, and many more.

For big band and swing fans, the 2016-2017 Memory Lane series includes Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Brian Beirne, Mr. Rock N’ Roll, The Kingsmen, The Tokens, The Marcels, The Four Preps, and The Chordettes; Rockin’ at the Beach starring Frankie Avalon & The Surfaris; and Tribute to Glenn Miller & The Vocal Groups featuring the Tex Beneke Orchestra, The Four Aces, The Four Lads, String of Pearls Vocal Group, and the Singing Comedy Impressionist Paul Boland.

Rob Kapilow’s What Makes It Great? series spotlights “GERSHWIN – An American in Paris With the Cal State Fullerton Orchestra;” “MOZART – A Little Night Music (Eine Kleine Nachtmusik)” with Hao Zhou and Lucy Wang, violin, Johanna Nowik, viola, and Tate Zawadiuk, cello; and “It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing: The Music of Duke Ellington With CSUN Jazz A Band” directed by Matt Harris.
