St. Joseph and Bosco students to present 'These Shining Lives'

LAKEWOOD – St. Joseph High School St. John Bosco theater students will perform “These Shining Lives” by Melanie Marnich, with performances beginning this weekend.

“These Shining Lives” follows the compelling stories of the “Radium Girls,” young women in the 1920’s and ‘30s who painted the faces of luminous watches and clocks with radioactive paint.
Set in Chicago and Ottawa, Illinois, home of the Radium Dial Company, the play focuses on the true story of Catherine Donohue and chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day, exploring their true story and its continued resonance.

The play is performed by students from St. Joseph and St. John Bosco. It features comedy, drama and history.

Performances are Oct. 6-7 and Oct. 12-14. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph High School, located at 5825 Woodruff Avenue in Lakewood.

Tickets are $13 and can be purchased online at jesterarts.ticketleap. com. For questions or more information, call (562) 925-5073, ext. 193.
