St. Mark's revives enchilada fundraiser

DOWNEY -- The annual tradition of making and selling enchiladas started by the Moravian Church of Downey is being continued by St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Downey.

After the Moravian church closed last year, St. Mark’s welcomed several former Moravian members and adopted some of their traditions, including Moravian music, liturgies and traditions in worship.

Now the decision has been made to continue the enchilada sale.

The sale will take place Saturday, Aug. 25, with pick-up available in the church’s fellowship hall from 12-5 p.m.

Enchiladas come two to a pan and are suitable for freezing. Pans of meat and cheese enchiladas are $8; cheese only are $9.

Orders can be placed ahead of time by emailing church@stmarksdowney.org or calling either the church at (562) 862-3268 or Luanne at (562) 927-3521. Orders can also be made online at mkt.com/stmarksdowney.

The church is located at 10354 Downey Ave. Payment can be made in cash, check or credit card.
