Street next to Kaiser named 'Caring Way'

DOWNEY - As part of the city's efforts to make the "Six Pillars of Character" more visible throughout the community, a stretch of road near the new Kaiser Permanente hospital has been named "Caring Way."The roadway is located between Kaiser Permanente and the Columbia Memorial Space Center, accessible from Imperial Highway and Steve Horn Way. No residences or businesses are located on the street. The city will spend about $2,000 for street signs. Last year, the city named a driveway behind City Hall "Responsibility Row." The City Council adopted the Six Pillars of Character in 2006. Created by the Josephson Institute of Ethics, the pillars emphasize trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
