Symphony preview in Whittier

WHITTIER - The Rio Hondo Symphony Guild will present its first concert preview of the season on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at First Friends Church in Whittier.Maestro Kimo Furumoto, conductor and music director of the Rio Hondo Symphony, is guest speaker. "American Classics" is the title of the program that the symphony will perform on Sept. 30. The maestro will talk about the music of American composers Copland, Bernstein, Gershwin and Duke Ellington. The guild helps support the Rio Hondo Symphony concerts and music programs for local schools through fundraisers such as the Annual Garden Tours and selling refreshments at each concert. The preview and concert are both free.
