The Downey Dirt Devils

The Downey Dirt Devils, a travel baseball team for kids ages 10-12, were honored by the City Council last week after qualifying to compete in a pair of national World Series tournaments. Ranked No. 37 in the nation, the Dirt Devils are raising money to compete in the National Mini World Series in Kissimmee, Fla., and another in Texas that is scheduled to be televised by ESPN. In total, the team is seeking funds to cover airfare and hotel for 12 kids over 14 days.

The team is coached by Jose Rodriguez, a 2001 Warren High alum who was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds out of high school. To help the team through sponsorships or donations, call Coach Jose at (562) 244-1661.
