CERRITOS – Get ready for “happy music made by happy people.” That’s how The New York Times described performances by Herb Alpert and his wife Lani Hall, who perform Friday, Nov. 3, at 8 p.m. at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.

Tickets start at $60 and are available at the CCPA Ticket Office and cerritoscenter.com or by calling (562) 916-8500.

Nine-time Grammy winner and Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame trumpeter Herb Alpert boasts 15 Gold albums and 14 Platinum records, selling more than 72 million records worldwide. With The Tijuana Brass, Alpert was a mainstay on the Top 40 with singles such as The Lonely Bull, Mexican Shuffle, and Spanish Flea. Bringing home Grammys were the hits “A Taste of Honey,” “What Now My Love,” “This Guy’s in Love With You, and Rise.”

Alpert recently released The Christmas Wish, his first holiday album in almost 50 years. The record features a 45-piece orchestra and a 32-member choir performing holiday classics such as Santa Baby, Winter Wonderland, and White Christmas.

Alpert has produced albums for Sergio Mendes & Brasil ’66, Stan Getz, Michel Colombier, and Gato Barbieri. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, Alpert was honored with the National Medal of Arts Award by President Barack Obama.

The musician’s namesake foundation, which he co-founded with his wife Lani Hall, promotes youth and arts education, the advancement of music, and environmental issues.

Grammy-winning vocalist and producer Hall started her musical career in 1966 as the lead singer of Sergio Mendes’ breakthrough group, Brasil ’66. Eventually, Mendes asked her to write the English lyrics for many of the band’s Brazilian songs.

Hall has recorded more than 22 albums in three different languages: English, Portuguese, and Spanish. In 1983, she sang the title song for the James Bond film, “Never Say Never Again.” In 1986 Hall won her first Grammy for Best Latin Pop Performance for the album “Es Facil Amar.”

She picked up a second Grammy as producer on Alpert’s 2013 “Steppin’ Out.” Hall is also the author of “Emotional Memoirs & Short Stories.”
