Unattractive sign

Dear Editor:It has been the policy of Downey to not allow large and excessively tall business signs which restrict the view of other businesses. The huge 100-ft. tall real estate sign located on Paramount Boulevard just south of Firestone at the rail road tracks is excessively large, excessively tall, is unattractive and it blocks out half of everything from view when coming south. If allowed to remain it would be an invitation to other businesses to do the same and Downey would soon look like a barrio. - James Hawkins, Downey
