Utility investigations begin in Bellflower for Southeast Gateway Line
BELLFLOWER – Crews working on Metro’s planned Southeast Gateway Line will begin underground utility investigations in Bellflower starting next week.
Metro’s contractor, C Below, Inc., will conduct the work from Sept. 8 through Sept. 30, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., weather permitting. The investigations are part of early engineering efforts for the new transit project.
The work will involve excavation to locate existing underground utility lines. Crews will be stationed at the following locations:
Flora Vista Street at Bellflower Bike Trail
Flora Vista Street at Woodruff Avenue
Flora Vista Street at Cornuta Avenue
Bellflower Boulevard at Bellflower Bike Trail, and Pacific Avenue next to Orchard Avenue
Alondra Boulevard at Pacific Avenue
Clark Avenue at Flora Vista Street, and Lakewood Boulevard at Paseo Street
City officials said residents should expect short-term traffic impacts, including lane reductions or closures during work hours. Lanes will be restored daily after crews finish for the day.
Signage will be posted to guide drivers around the work zones. Roads and pavement will be patched after drilling is complete.
Metro said all necessary permits and approvals have been secured. Access for emergency responders will be maintained throughout construction, and access to homes, businesses and private driveways will be kept open unless prior notice is given.
Officials also cautioned that construction schedules are subject to change.
