Vandalism suspects accused of smashing up to 30 car windows

DOWNEY – Two people suspected of smashing the windows of 30 cars were arrested last week, police announced.

Police officers were dispatched to the area of Suva Street and Arrington Avenue on Dec. 5 to investigate a vandalism report.

When officers arrived, they stopped a Mitsubishi Lancer that matched the description of a suspect vehicle in prior vandalism calls, authorities said.

Officers reportedly found a hammer inside the vehicle. Detectives linked the suspects, an adult man from Downey and a juvenile from Long Beach, to about 30 incidents in which vehicles had their windows and side mirrors broken.

The suspects were not identified. Anyone with additional information is asked to call Sgt. Leigh Lacy at (562) 904-2340.
