Victim of wall collapse identified as Downey man
Authorities Monday released the name of a 52-year- old man who was killed when a block wall collapsed on him in the rear of a home in the Vermont Knolls section of South Los Angeles.
His name was Diego Zamora, a resident of Downey, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner's office.
Firefighters were called about 1:35 p.m. Thursday to the 7400 block of South Hoover Street, where Zamora was found beneath the collapsed wall.
"Unfortunately, despite the efforts of all firefighters and paramedics involved, the patient was beyond medical help and determined deceased on scene," Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.
It was unclear what caused the wall to collapse and trap Zamora.
