Waste roundup in Downey tomorrow

DOWNEY - Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of household and electronic waste Aug. 31 at a roundup event in Downey.Waste can be dropped off at the L.A. County Office of Education, 9300 Imperial Hwy., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Household hazardous waste includes paint, glue, pesticides, oils, solvents, cleansers, old medicine, and car and dry-cell batteries. Electronic waste includes computer monitors, televisions, VCRs, stereos, fax machines, computer keyboards and cellular phones. Improper disposal of household and electronic waste can pollute the environment. There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds per vehicle. Waste should be placed in the trunk of the car, with original labels intact if possible. No explosives, ammunition, or radioactive materials will be accepted. The roundup is for residents only.
