West Middle School students

West Middle School students got an up close view of various fossilized items recently. Teacher Pat Bledsoe requested fossil beds from the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument in Oregon, which granted the request. The beds feature some of the richest fossil beds in the world, including diverse plant and animal life that existed here more than six million years ago. Students learned about several different major environmental periods and viewed fossilized items close-up, including a tyrannosaurus rex tooth. Above, students Jonathan Perez, Kayla Kimaz and Robin Ejiagwa get a view of fossilized items. ********** Published: January 29, 2010 - Volume 8 - Issue 41
