Woman jumps off bridge in suicide attempt

DOWNEY – A 25-year-old Downey woman is in critical condition after attempting to kill herself by jumping off the Florence Avenue overpass at the San Gabriel River, police said Tuesday. Witnesses said that the woman was alone when she threw herself off the overpass at about 11:30 a.m.

Downey police officers found the woman suffering from head trauma. Firefighters transported her to a local hospital where she remains in critical condition.
