Zavala is new Chamber president

DOWNEY - Local business owner Robert Zavala was installed as the 106th president of the Downey Chamber of Commerce last Friday at the Rio Hondo Event Center.Zavala, owner of the Freedom Vacations travel agency in Downtown Downey, was sworn-in by Councilman David Gafin, himself a past president of the Chamber. Ernie Garcia, owner of West Coast Metal Finishing, served as master of ceremonies for the country-themed event. Johnny Croshaw provided entertainment. Mike Murray of Downey Used Cars was installed as president-elect of the Chamber. Other officers include vice president Jan Scott (Pacific Western Bank); treasurer George Zoumberakis (Trilogy Financial Services); and immediate past president Rick Rodriguez (RMI International). Sue Nordin, executive director of the Chamber, will serve as board secretary. Incoming and returning directors include Joe Becker (Bob's Big Boy), Bob Ciatti (Efficient Lighting & Electric), Marlene Dowls (Jesse Blessings Promotional Solutions), Steve Hoffman (Law Office of Steven J. Hoffman), Patricia Kotze (Diversified Risk Management), David Llamas (Mambo Grill), Dr. John McAllister (DDS), Alex Saab (Law Office of Alexis Saab), Min Thai (Tredway, Lumsdaine & Doyle), and Elizabeth Trombley (Kaiser Permanente).
